By The Numbers: Henry Cejudo vs. Yadong Song

Henry Cejudo still has some sand in the hourglass.

The onetime Olympic gold medalist and former two-division Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder will confront Yadong Song in the UFC Fight Night 252 bantamweight headliner on Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Cejudo enters the cage on the heels of back-to-back losses. The Fight Ready MMA rep last saw action at UFC 298, where he wound up on the wrong side of a unanimous verdict against Merab Dvalishvili in their three-round encounter on Feb. 17, 2024. Song, meanwhile, has won five of his past seven bouts. However, the Team Alpha Male standout finds himself on the rebound following a three-round unanimous decision defeat to Petr Yan at UFC 299 on March 9.

As Cejudo and Song move ever closer to their looming showdown at 135 pounds, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

38: Years of age for Cejudo, who was born in Los Angeles on Feb. 9, 1987.

8: Cejudo victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 50% of his career total (16). His list of UFC victims: Dominick Cruz, Marlon Moraes, T.J. Dillashaw and Wilson Reis. Cejudo owns eight other victories by decision (50%).

926: Days spent by Cejudo as a UFC champion. He held the flyweight crown from Aug. 4, 2018 to Feb. 29, 2020 and the bantamweight title from June 8, 2019 to May 24, 2020. Cejudo remains one of only four fighters—Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier and Amanda Nunes are the others—to hold UFC championships in two divisions simultaneously.

4: Promotions for which Cejudo has competed as a mixed martial artist. In addition to the UFC, he has suite dup for the Legacy Fighting Championship, Gladiator Challenge and the World Fighting Federation.

.818: Cumulative winning percentage between the four opponents—Dvalishvili, Aljamain Sterling, Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson—who have beaten Cejudo. They boast a combined record of 96-21-1.

65: Seconds needed for Song to put away Makoto Yoshida with knees to the body and follow-up punches under the Wu Lin Feng banner on Oct. 28, 2017. More than seven years later, it remains his fastest finish to date.

116: Significant strikes landed by Song in his three-round split decision over Casey Kenney at UFC 265 on Aug. 7, 2021. It established a personal high-water mark for the “Kung Fu Kid” that still stands.

126: Combined victories between the seven opponents—Yan, Cory Sandhagen, Kyler Phillips, Renat Ondar (twice), Alexey Polpudnikov, Giovanni Moljo and Xian Ji—who have defeated Song. They sport a cumulative .694 winning percentage at 126-55-2.
