Contract Obligations Axe Wanderlei Silva From Appearing at Pre-Promotion for Bellator 131

Just a day after Bellator MMA announced Wanderlei Silva would be a piece of its promotional lead-in to this weekend’s Bellator 131, plans have been scrapped due to Silva’s previous contract obligations.

The promotion announced the news via Twitter on Tuesday.

Due to prior contractual obligations, Wanderlei Silva will not be able to participate in #Bellator131's pre-promotion this week

While it’s yet to be confirmed what exact contract obligations Bellator is referencing, it’s likely a result of Silva’s contract with Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Sherdog.com’s requests for comment to both Bellator MMA and the UFC were not immediately returned.
