By The Numbers: UFC 283 Pre-Fight Edition


Glover Teixeira will attempt to reclaim the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight crown when he squares off with Jamahal Hill—the 205-pound title was left vacant due to a shoulder injury suffered by Jiri Prochazka—in the UFC 283 main event on Saturday at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Meanwhile, Deiveson Figueiredo defends his flyweight belt opposite Brandon Moreno when the archrivals complete the tetralogy in the five-round co-headliner.

As UFC 283 “Teixeira vs. Hill” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the card bring to the table:

43: Years of age for Teixeira. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on Oct. 28, 1979 in Sobralia, Brazil—some 400 miles north of Rio de Janeiro.

20: Rounds completed by Hill as a professional mixed martial artist. The Dana White’s Contender Series graduate has gone the distance on four different occasions and carries a perfect 4-0 record in those bouts.

53: Seconds needed for Figueiredo to submit David Raimundo Arcangela Silva with a guillotine choke at a Jurunense Open Fight MMA show on March 20, 2014. Nearly nine years later, it remains the Brazilian’s fastest finish to date.

11: Moreno wins by submission, accounting for 55% of his career total (20). “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 24 alum’s methods of choice: six rear-naked chokes, two triangle chokes, two armbars and one guillotine choke.

10: First-round finishes on the Gilbert Burns resume, with three of them having taken place inside the Octagon. The Kill Cliff Fight Club rep put away Christos Giagos with an armbar in 4:57 at UFC 179, dispatched Lukasz Sajewski with an armbar in 4:57 at UFC Fight Night 90 and cut down Demian Maia with punches in 2:34 at UFC Fight Night 170. Burns tackles Neil Magny in a three-round welterweight attraction.

1,296: Significant strikes landed by Magny as a UFC welterweight, placing him first on the promotion’s list at 170 pounds. The Elevation Fight Team export ranks ahead of Georges St. Pierre (1,254), Kamaru Usman (1,247), Robbie Lawler (1,192) and Stephen Thompson (1,186).

12: Consecutive calendar years in which Jessica Andrade has fought at least once. The Parana Vale Tudo standout went 2-0 in 2011, 5-2 in 2012, 3-1 in 2013, 2-0 in 2014, 1-2 in 2015, 2-0 in 2016, 2-1 in 2017, 2-0 in 2018, 1-1 in 2019, 1-1 in 2020, 1-1 in 2021 and 1-0 in 2022. Andrade meets Lauren Murphy in a three-round women’s flyweight feature.

208: Days spent by Murphy as undisputed Invicta Fighting Championships bantamweight titleholder. She laid claim to the crown with a fourth-round technical knockout of Miriam Nakamoto at Invicta 7 on Dec. 7, 2013, then vacated it to sign with the UFC a little less than seven months later.

15: Johnny Walker victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 79% of his career total (19). The SBG Ireland rep’s list of UFC victims: Ryan Spann, Misha Cirkunov, Justin Ledet and Khalil Rountree. Walker faces Paul Craig in a three-round light heavyweight showcase.

8: Countries in which Craig has plied his mixed martial arts trade. The former British Association of Mixed Martial Arts champion has gone 6-1 in England, 4-2 in the United States, 2-1 in his native Scotland, 2-0 in Ireland, 1-0 in Mexico, 1-0 in the United Arab Emirates, 0-0-1 in Brazil and 0-1 in Australia.

25: Years of age for Gabriel Bonfim. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on Aug. 20, 1997 in Brasilia, Brazil. Bonfim makes his promotional debut opposite Mounir Lazzez in a three-round welterweight prelim.

512: Combined victories between the 30 fighters booked to compete at the event. They sport a cumulative .789 winning percentage at 512-130-7. Teixeira owns the most wins (33) of anyone on the card, while Mauricio Rua has been saddled with the most losses (13). Rua closes out his remarkable career on the undercard, where he confronts Ihor Potieria at 205 pounds.
